Interactivity and the Email Reply

For years now email marketing has continued to be a great way to interact with customers and potential customers. New tools have made it extremely easy to allow people to opt into your email list and receive your newsletter, special tips, discounts on products, etc.

In preparation for the massive growth people expect from email lists, we typically use a non-existent reply email so we don’t swamp our already busy inbox with additional messages from our newsletter list. Generally, we’ll use something like noreply@mysite.com. If a subscriber does click “reply” they’ll simply get an automated reply that they’ve reached a non-working email address.

G+ Vanity URL Substitutes

Currently Google Plus doesn’t have vanity urls like Facebook (ie. http://www.facebook.com/Augustine.Marketing). I suspect we’ll eventually be able to register for vanity urls in G+ too. Until that time, here’s a quick tip to make it easy for people to find you on G+.

There are lots of link shortening tools that make it easy for you to share a link on social media tools with a tight character count. Almost everyone with a third party Twitter tool knows about these link shortening tools. However, most don’t realize that some of those tools allow you to customize your shortened link, and, if they do, they aren’t using the feature.
